Meteomatics has announced the opening of its new US headquarters in New York City.
The the weather technology company has broken into the US market over the last two years, introducing what is reportedly the nation’s first 1km weather model and weather drones. It has increased its US customer base with companies including CenterPoint Energy, NorthWestern Energy and CVS Health.
Following its Series C round earlier this year, the company can now finalize the formation of Meteomatics US and open its satellite office.
As the US experiences rising temperatures, intensifying hurricanes and volatile weather, Meteomatics says it is seeing increased demand from companies looking to implement weather intelligence in their business strategies.
The company’s NYC-based team will provide support to current and future US customers across the energy, insurance, agriculture and aviation industries.

Meteomatics says it works with more than 600 companies around the world to provide real-time insights into the localized weather patterns that directly affect their business.
Using its hourly weather model, which covers the contiguous US and Gulf of Mexico and surpasses current resolution standards at 1km instead of 20km, the company enables US businesses to accurately detect hyper-local events, such as fog, precipitation, wind, hail, storms and fluctuating temperatures.
Meteomatics launched its US operations at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota with its Meteodrone, a drone-based micro-weather service able to reach altitudes of up to 6km above the Earth’s surface. It was the first of its kind in the nation, according to the company.
The NOAA is reportedly testing Meteomatics drones at the base. With an established US presence in place, the company will continue to scale the use of these drones across the country in tandem with its US1k model.
